Micro / Tiny Touch Soccer

Micro Soccer Program

  • At the Dome on Saturdays from 8:45am to 9:45am
  • Duration: 45 minutes to One Hour
  • Player Age Range (Boys and Girls)

o       First Year Mature 2 year olds

o       First and second year 3 and 4 year olds

o       First Year younger 5 year olds

  •  Parental involvement is encouraged and sometimes necessary
  •  Goal is for kids to just play with a soccer ball in a structured, safe environment, with other players or just with Mom and Dad
  • Small Sided Games are used to introduce these young players to team play
  •  Coaching is very limited as the goal is for the kids to fall in love with kicking the soccer ball
  •  Session Format

o       Upon arrival, kids are allowed 10-15 minutes of free time with their own soccer ball

o       Next 30 minutes is for small sided games with no Goal Keeper

o       Others not ready for team play may continue to play one-on-one with their parents

  • Wrap Up Team Cheer
  • Having fun is very important at this stage of development
  • Next step is to the U6 Soccer Program

 

The U6 Soccer Program: Children under 6 years old

  • At the Dome on Saturdays 9:45am TO 10:45am
  • Player Age Range (Boys and Girls)

o       Graduates from Tiny Touch.

o       First and second year 4,5,6 Also First year 5,6,and smaller 7 & 8 YO

  • Instruction and coaching is stressed at this level

o       Ball Skills

o       Shooting, Passing, Dribbling.

o       Team play

  • Session Format - approx for 1 hour

o       Free Play: 10 minutes

o       Warm-up: 10 minutes

o       Fun games which teach skills: min 2 Drills 15 minutes

o       Small Sided Games (4v4 max) with a GK: 30 minutes

o       Wrap Up Team Cheer

  • Parents serve as:

o       Helpers during first 30 minutes

o       Facilitators during the small sided games

  • Goal is for kids to begin following instructions from a coach, but much is learned through self-discovery and Skill Oriented Fun Games.
  • Small Sided Games are structured to allow all players to get many touches on the soccer ball while encouraging the players to shoot and score as often as possible.
  • Coaching at the team level is discouraged as it is natural for all the players to want the soccer ball – whether taking it from their own teammate or the other team.
